WOOD:
In contrast to steel, it is a natural product. It is hygroscopic, in other words it absorbs humidity and reacts to the environment. Depending on climatic changes, wood contracts when dry and expands when it absorbs humidity.
The continuous interactions of dryness and humidity make wood work.
It is therefore normal that depending on the cases, wood splits, cracks, discolours, warps, shrinks or dilates.
With regard to “Wild” pine, it reaches dimensional variations of approximately 3% or 4%.
The cracks in the fibres of the wood do not represent any risk and do not cause mechanical failures.
Every piece is different and will have unique natural features such as nodes and other peculiarities.
The cracks that appear are normal characteristics of wood. They should be expected and will not affect the toughness or longevity of the product.
Resin flow is a natural phenomenon of resinous wood.
Mildew may appear. However it does not penetrate the wood or degrade it. A surface brushing when the wood is dry will get rid of these impurities.
